Stewart Stevenson Supports Motion for a Member's Debate on Asbestosis

Des McNulty has tabled a Bill
before the Scottish Parliament to provide justice for sufferers from the effects of exposure to asbestos and their families. Stewart Stevenson is a co-sponsor of this Bill and is now supporting Mr McNulty's bid for a Parliamentary debate on the subject following a perverse decision by House of Lords.

The motion is:

*S2M-4576
Des McNulty: Justice for Mesothelioma Sufferers—That the Parliament expresses grave concern at the House of Lords ruling on 3 May 2006 which means that compensation for mesothelioma sufferers will be cut and supports Lord Rodger’s judgement that, no matter where an individual contracted the disease, they should receive a full payment, reflecting practice in the Scottish courts, and notes that the judgement will have a significant impact in Clydebank and the west of Scotland.
