Banff & Buchan MSP Stewart Stevenson has welcomed the publication of figures in Grampian Police’s annual report that demonstrate crime has fallen by more than five percent in the last year. There were 4856 fewer crimes in the Grampian area compared to last year’s figures while police numbers have hit a record high of 1557.
Commenting, Mr Stevenson said:
“The hardworking officers in Grampian Police have done a fantastic job in securing our communities and driving down crime in the last year, as these figures show.
“That crime has so demonstrably fallen in the region is a testament to their dedication when it comes to making our streets safer and everyone in Grampian Police should be immensely proud of their efforts.
“This reduction in crime only goes to prove that there really is no substitute for putting more bobbies on the beat to protect our communities. The SNP Government promised to deliver an extra 1,000 police officers over the course of this parliament and we are clearly seeing the benefit as this promise is delivered on.”
