NHS Scotland announced last week their plans to recruit volunteers with relevant skills and experience to support front line staff as demand and needs increase.
The Banffshire and Buchan Coast MSP has now urged anyone who has left the professional register within the last three years as a Registered Nurse, Midwife, paramedic, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, diagnostic or therapeutic radiographer, biomedical scientist, pharmacist or pharmacy technician or medical practitioner is being urged to return to the NHS in their professional capacity.
Commenting, Stewart Stevenson MSP said:
“In its hour of need, I want to add my plea to any recently retired NHS staff who could return to work and offer their skills and support to help deal with the current demands on our health service.
“I am under no illusions of how big an ask this is, but I want to be clear that we need many more staff.
“The whole country needs the NHS right now and so I want to appeal to you if you're a recently retired healthcare professional then your NHS needs you.”
